Case Study I 2021-ongoing

Bluedog Group
A group of agency brands specialising in live experiences, retail activations, digital & content solutions, and PR for brands like Harrods, Selfridges, Inchcape, Chanel, CEW UK, Estée Lauder, Tom Ford, Bacardi, Treasury Wine Estates and Dufry to name a few. They offer a full 360 service from concept and design through to production and delivery. Founded in 1999.

In 2021, I joined the Bluedog Group – I was the first person to be contracted for the restart after the pandemic. I report to the Group CEO and Operations Director. The group had just undergone a specialist led restructure when I joined, and I gained the confidence of the team to continue to strengthen client relationships and develop the group’s international presence across the breadth of sectors in which it currently delivers – including beauty & cosmetics, fashion, wine & spirits, confectionary, travel retail, automotive and pharmaceutical.

Bluedog has established an impressive portfolio over the years and works alongside many high-profile clients, such as Cosmetics Executive Women. CEW is a professional organisation that promotes the British beauty industry, driving its dynamic growth in the global beauty economy. Since September 2021, when I met the President of CEW together with our group CEO for the first time, I have already been involved in delivering eight events for them – including awards lunches and dinners, a beauty tech summit, and product demonstration events.

2021 I London

2022 I HAMPTON COURT

As part of researching and identifying new business opportunities and charting the course for future growth, I have helped preparing proposals and pitching to prospective clients, such as Gymshark, Trinny London and Coty. I have exhibited at industry events and promoted the group at international conferences, events and network gatherings. For instance, post-pandemic, Bluedog has supported TFWA i.lab at the TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes, to foster fresh thinking about all aspects of the traveller experience and share innovative-based solutions.

I have always valued opportunities to maintain and strengthen relationships with industry colleagues. My role in the company allows me to remain a member of Women in Travel Retail – a forum for the industry’s women, which I became a member of already when I lived in Hong Kong. I am also a member of the Swedish Chamber of Commerce for the UK and the Danish-UK Association, where business leaders, entrepreneurs, politicians, though-leaders and academics from most sectors meet.

We have so far renewed my contract six times. After almost reaching full capacity, my role changed just after renewing it the first time. I then started working more closely with the Group CEO, providing support for global projects and events – from key account and project management through to event delivery.

I have always found it intriguing to gain an insight into various industries and organisational cultures. One of the highlights in 2022, was when we delivered a Global Leadership Event in Austin, Texas for Inchcape – the leading independent multi-brand global automotive distributor. From carrying out a global feasibility study, sourcing the venue and negotiating contracts through to managing the delegate experience, event look and feel, production and delivery – it has been months of hard work but a very enjoyable ride. I led a team of Inchcape employees onsite to ensure a smooth delegate experience.

2022 I AUSTIN

2023 I THE GROUP

Since I joined the group in 2021, the business has grown by 43% and counts clients that include Dufry, Bacardi, Pernod Ricard, Ritter Sport, Lindt and Wella as long-term partners. Said success has resulted in new milestones in 2023 – including adding PR specialism to the group’s travel retail marketing services line up with acquisition of Essential Communications, and the opening of an office in Barcelona – why I during the first six months of 2023 mainly have been helping with business management and topics relevant for the management team. Moreover, I have led the process to become B-Corp certified, including writing company policies.

The second half of 2023 has been dominated by project work and event deliveries across Europe. The TFWA World Exhibition and Conference in Cannes in October became the group’s busiest TFWA ever, with exhibition stands, yacht events, award dinners and brand launches to deliver for some of the travel retail industry’s biggest players. In November, we delivered the Union World Conference on Lung Health (WCLH) at Palais des Congrès de Paris, followed by a site visit to Bali preparing for 2024.

Case Study I 2019-2020

Kairos Fortuna Creative Studio
A creative studio specialising in exhibition and product design for brands like Bolon Eyewear, Delsey Paris, Lancaster, Shanghai Tang, Camus, Primum Familiae Vini, Viña Concha y Toro and Unilever to name a few. They offer a full 360 service from concept and design through to production and delivery. Founded in 2018.

As freelancer, I have been able to leverage prior experience and network, and more or less carried out the same type of activities as with Depack across the same sectors. In 2019, I worked alongside Depack’s ex-CEO, assisting in expanding her business and in various ad-hoc projects. My work covered strategy, business development, relationship and project management, as well as marketing. I acted as ambassador and attended meetings and trade association gatherings at numerous occasions in Amsterdam, London, Paris and Bordeaux. I was sent to Asia to represent my client at TFWA Asia Pacific, secure business and be invited to partake in tenders.

To give an example of an ad-hoc project, we developed a market expansion strategy for select European and Asian markets, including design concept, for a leading luggage brand about to launch a new backpack collection.

2019 I SINGAPOre

2019 I cannes

2019 marked my fourth TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes, this time overseeing the execution of stands for brands like Unilever, Lancaster and Shanghai Tang and attending meetings with clients and prospects. We also made time for team building activities.

2020 should have been the year when we partook in the tenders that we had received invitations to the year before, but all came to a standstill due to the pandemic. The annual TFWA exhibitions in Singapore and Cannes turned into Virtual Travel Retail Expos. The same goes for other industries. Instead focus has been on enhancing resilience, adaptation, finding new ways of keeping relationships alive and diversifying into a new type of services. I have kept writing newsletters, developed marketing materials and appealing presentations for meetings and preparing communication materials – most recently for the G20 Young Entrepreneurs’ Alliance Summit.

Having studied English in Cambridge after Upper Secondary School, I have been eager to experience Oxford. In 2019 and 2020, I enrolled in Executive Education programmes to be able to better address contemporary challenges in a constantly evolving environment and achieve organisational goals and objectives through a strategic approach. Oxford faculty and industry experts guided us through discussions, group work and diverse learning activities.

Having completed the DMDS programme, I became a member of the Oxford Digital Leaders Network – a community focused on leadership for driving growth in a consumer-obsessed, digitally enabled, and responsible manner.

The LSP programme encouraged us to critically reflect on a strategic project - I chose my market expansion experience with Depack - the different dimensions of complexity encountered while delivering it and appropriate response actions. It further allowed us to think carefully of the definition of project success and our own potential to lead a strategic project. A fantastic opportunity to step back and gain new perspectives.
